to all thatWhether you love New York with a passion or are starting to wonder if there’s life beyond the Big Apple, you’ll appreciate Sari Botton’s anthology, Goodbye to All That: Writers on Loving and Leaving New York, its title and writings an ode and reaction to Joan Didion’s iconic essay. Botton writes in “Real Estate” of a beloved Nolita psychic warning her, “Don’t give up the apartment,” words of advice she doesn’t heed as she transitions from East 12th Street to Avenue B to her current home in upstate New York. She’ll be joined by contributors Elisa Albert, Ruth CurryMarcy Dermansky and Emily St. John Mandel, as well as a few other writers who’ll share their love/hate relationship with the city that never sleeps: Nick Flynn, Stephen Elliott and Ed Schwarzchild.
