Less than 24 hours after being sworn into office, Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) already has an eye to the 2014 Senate election.

The newly minted U.S. senator issued an e-mail to supporters Friday asking them to report back to the federal lawmaker their top priority and, of course, contribute “today to help kick-start” the next campaign.

“With our next election 12 months away, I’ll need your help in making the lives of New Jerseyans better through my work in the Senate – and in my campaign for re-election,” Booker said in the e-mail.

Booker was sworn in by Vice President Joe Biden Thursday after being elected in October to serve out the remainder of the late Sen. Frank Lautenberg’s term.
