John Currie, the chairman of the Democratic State Committee, will run again for a full two-year term, a Democratic Party source told PolitickerNJ.com.
Still at the helm of the Passaic County Democratic Organization, Currie oversaw countywide victories on Tuesday night, including the re-election of his sheriff, Richard Berdnik.
The veteran Currie assumed leadership of the party last June as a compromise candidate for a six-month interim period following the collision of Assemblyman Jason O’Donnell and state Sen. Ray Lesniak.
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Barbara Buono backed O’Donnell, while South Jersey Democrats and other establishment types backed Lesniak.
Currie stepped in to avoid further casualties in the party train wreck.
