Alimony revision bill held

TRENTON – One of two competing alimony revision bills was held in the Senate Judiciary Committee Monday.

S2750, whose sponsors include Sen. Sandra Cunningham, (D-31), Jersey City, would eliminate permanent alimony and establish guidelines for alimony duration based on a marriage’s length. The bill was held.

A different bill, A4525, also would end permanent alimony but provide judges some discretion that does not exist in the Cunningham bill.
