Emojis everywhere. Last night, Betabeat ventured to an emoji-inspired art exhibit at a gallery in Chelsea. The exhibit is a joint project between Forced Meme Productions, Eyebeam and GroupMe. It’s sure to have fans of the tiny Japanese icons texting rows and rows of thumbs up symbols.

We gazed at famous paintings that were reinterpreted with emojis and even touched a piece of concrete modeled after Facebook’s thumbs-up icon. There’s also a gift shop selling goodies embossed with emojis that will be perfect for any of your friends who only communicate using the icons.

It runs until Saturday at the Eyebeam Art+Technology Center on West 21st.

Have a holly jolly Questmas. Spotify has yet to turn a profit, but that didn’t stop them from turning the volume up and burning through lots and lots o’ VC cash last night at their holiday party. Questlove DJed, people freaked out, and we imagine not a lot got done at their New York office today.

Da‐addd. Google exec Eric Schmidt took to his personal Google+ blog (lolololol) to write up the steps for switching from iPhone to Android. It was a display of trash talk the likes of which have not been seen since your father coached your Little League team to the playoffs.

Actually, “Eric’s Guide: Converting to Android from iPhone” is literally just a tedious step by step guide to switching phones. It also includes the 🙂 smiley, which is actually considered vintage at this point.

Nerdy nuptials. Foursquare cofounder Dennis Crowley apparently wanted to stop his wedding before it started. That was our takeaway, at least, from this screenshotted prewedding convo with his nowwife, Chelsa Crowley, that he tweeted this week.

“it’s cool and futury and handsome!”??? We love Mrs. Crowley’s responses. Hopefully she sought a prenup barring him from wearing Google Glass during future family milestones. We can just imagine the horror of hearing the words, “Okay, Glass,” in a delivery room.
