Weekly Advance: Week of Dec. 23

TRENTON – A typical holiday week is in store in the Statehouse.

All the legislation has been hung by the governor’s office with care, in hopes that his signature soon would be there.

In general, though, expect a quiet week with some news simmering below the surface.

The scandal that Gov. Chris Christie says is not a big deal is not going away: Subpoenaed documents are in the hands of the Assembly Transportation Committee – and more are due – concerning the George Washington Bridge lane closures back in September.

More second-term Cabinet announcements are due, although it might be unlikely to see them announced during a holiday week.

After the holidays the pace of events will pick up as we move toward the annual State of the State address, and then we are in budget season.

After the new year begins, legislators will resume committee business. Full-chamber voting sessions are slated for Jan. 6 in the Assembly and Jan. 9 in the Senate.
