The Daily Beast announced some hires to replace Tina Brown, who is off doing “live journalism.” Noah Shachtman, a former editor at Foreign Policy and Wired, will be the Beast’s new executive editor and  John Avlon, who has been running the site since Ms. Brown’s departure, has been named editor in chief.
