This week kicks off Under the Radar Festival, an extensive program of theater, music, dance, performance and discussions featuring artists from around the world. Shows include “Sacred Stories” by Toshi Reagon and BIGLovelyI Stole Your Dad by John Hodgman, free lounge performances by L.A. punk glam band Timur and the Dime Museum, Champagne Jerry (Neal Medlyn‘s rap act), DJing by AndrewAndrew, Chris Tyler’s TRL: Total Reject Live (which reenacts MTV’s TRL in “the most disastrous way possible”) and much more. One suggestion for tonight: one-man show Rodney King by Roger Guenveur Smith, using found texts and hip-hop beats.
