TRENTON – Assembly Republicans led by Minority Leader Jon Bramnick will hold a press conference at 1 today, reportedly to discuss issues that should be drawing lawmakers’ attention.
With so much attention focused on the ongoing investigations into the George Washington Bridge scandal, GOP legislators are expected to call attention to other matters that need legislators’ attention as well. Budget season is just around the corner.
The governor’s budget address is scheduled for Feb. 25, and in his State of the State Address last month he put everyone on notice that if the state has to meet its full pension payment next fiscal year, there could be problems funding programs in education, public safety and elsewhere.
Gov. Chris Christie issued a call in his address for a major educational initiative for a longer school day and year.
