Bridgegate probes force cancelation of campaign manager discussion on gov race

The controversy surrounding the George Washington Bridge that’s engulfed the Gov. Chris Christie administration forced the cancelation of an upcoming discussion on the recent gubernatorial race.

The Rebovich Institute for New Jersey Politics announced Tuesday that its upcoming Campaign Managers Conference was scrapped “due to recent controversies and ongoing investigations,” according to a statement from the institute at Rider University.

“It has become clear that a full discussion of the campaign is not possible at this time,” the statement reads. “Therefore, the Rebovich Institute has chosen to cancel the conference.”

The event, slated for Thursday, was set to feature several panels discussing areas of the recent election.

The panels were to include Christie’s campaign fundraiser, Bill Palatucci, discussing the race with Sen. Barbara Buono’s campaign manager, Assemblywoman Bonnie Watson Coleman, as well as former Buono spokesman David Turner discussing “campaign media” with Christie political strategist Mike DuHaime.

However, the event was canceled amid the ongoing investigations.
