Tom MacArthur, former mayor of Randolph
Strengths: A corporate CEO, he enjoys a money advantage over most other rivals. Even though he’s not from CD3, he has impressed Republicans in both Ocean and Burlington counties with his resume and poise.
Weaknesses: If he can get past former Bogota Mayor Steve Lonegan, MacArthur may be going to Washington, D.C. as a congressman, and presumably would not be in the running for governor.
Prognosis: If MacArthur can’t manage to knock out Lonegan for whatever district-wide political reasons, he could emerge as a gubernatorial prospect.
