Democratic Party officials, including outgoing U.S. Rep. Rob Andrews (D-1), are expected to rally behind state Sen. Donald Norcross later today as a candidate to fill the congressional vacancy, according to a source familiar with the discussions.
Norcross (D-5) has served in the state Senate since 2010 and is the brother of South Jersey Democratic power broker George Norcross III.
Andrews, who sources confirmed plans to vacate his congressional seat, is expected to be among the Democratic Party officials throwing their support behind Norcross later today.
Andrews is expected to make a formal announcement of his departure later today.
