TRENTON – Assemblyman Gary Schaer (D-36), Passaic, chair of the Assembly Budget Committee, moments ago declared “off the agenda” Assembly Bill 2739, a bill that dropped jaws early on the Committee.
From the Associated Press: “Salaries for Gov. Chris Christie’s top staff and judges would be raised by a bill that will be fast-tracked through the Legislature, but the measure does not include another proposed provision that would have benefited the governor by allowing him to earn income by writing a book while in office.
“The bill to be introduced Monday also enacts a pension change that benefits a few elected officials and raises the pay of the next governor. An earlier draft of the bill obtained by The Associated Press cleared the way for the Republican and possible 2016 presidential candidate to collect fees from a book while still governor, which current state law does not allow.”
