Twitter: Don’t miss an opportunity to correct a potential opponent

TRENTON – Add Twitter to the growing list of venues would-be gubernatorial hopefuls are using to take a swipe at potential challengers.

When Jersey City Mayor, presumably, hit send on a tweet that contained a typo, Senate President Steve Sweeney was there to highlight the mayor’s mistake.

“Patrick Murphy for LG!” Fulop tweeted after the director of Monmouth University Polling Institute’s Patrick Murray tweeted a link to a column on PolitickerNJ that asserted Sweeney and Fulop are both “running for governor.”

“Mayor,” Sweeney tweeted sometime later, “You are making [Murry] sound more Irish than he already is.”

The playful swipe comes after some not-so-playful public spats between the two.
