The 20,000 member New Jersey Laborers Union today threw its political support behind Assemblywoman Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-15) in the race to succeed U.S. Rep. Rush Holt (D-12).
“Since she first took office in the New Jersey State Assembly back in 1998, and in her many leadership roles including as Assembly Majority Leader, State Campaign Chair, and Democratic State Committee Chair, Bonnie Watson Coleman has been a key advocate and friend of working families in general and our union specifically,” said LIUNA Vice President and Eastern Regional Manager Raymond M. Pocino.
Pocino further discussed the union’s reason for the endorsement.
“There is no learning process for Assemblywoman Watson Colman,” Pocino said. “She understands the district, she understands the issues facing both residents and businesses, and she understands what it will take to change things in Congress. She has unparalleled experience and an unmatched dedication to the people of the 12th Congressional District. Like Rush Holt, Bonnie Watson Coleman approaches government with the right priorities by putting people ahead of politics and using policy to help people.”
