Burlington County Republicans are set to endorse their candidate this weekend to replace U.S. Rep. Jon Runyan (R-3) in Congress.
The Burlington County GOP will announce its endorsement following a closed meeting Saturday. Officials are expected to endorse former Randolph Mayor Tom MacArthur, who won the backing of the Burlington County Regular Republican Screening Committee earlier this month.
The Burlington GOP was originally slated to endorse a candidate on March 29. However, following the resignation of the county’s freeholder director, Leah Arter, the group advanced its meeting, said Burlington County GOP Chairman Bill Layton.
The Ocean County GOP is slated to hold its convention next week to name a candidate.
MacArthur also won the approval of the Ocean County GOP screening committee.
