TRENTON – The race to replace U.S. Rep. Jon Runyan (R-3) is underway.
Republicans Steve Lonegan and Tom MacArthur filed petitions in hopes of securing the GOP’s nomination to succeed the outgoing congressman in the right-leaning district.
Lonegan, a former U.S. Senate hopeful and mayor of Bogota, submitted 1,005 petitions. MacArthur, former mayor of Randolph who secured the GOP’s establishment support in Ocean and Burlington counties, submitted 520 signatures.
Democrats Aimee Belgard, Howard Kleinhendler and Bruce Todd filed signatures with the state in hopes of securing their party’s nomination.
Belgard is the Democratic Party’s establishment favorite for the district. She submitted 493 signatures.
Todd submitted 456 signatures and Kleinhendler submitted 407 signatures.
