The Communications Workers of America (CWA) Local 1039 today announced its endorsement of Assemblywoman Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-15) for the 12th District Congressional seat.
“Bonnie Watson Coleman has always stood on the front lines against Governor Christie’s right wing policies and has a long history of achieving results,” said Lionel Leach, President of CWA Local 1039.
“When Governor Christie moved forward to eliminate COAH with support from some Democrats, Bonnie Watson Coleman was leading the fight to ensure that affordable housing continued to be available for families across the state,” Leach added. “Assemblywoman Watson Coleman also fought to increase the minimum wage and was a vocal proponent of the Paid Family Leave legislation. Bonnie has a well-earned reputation as someone who will always stand up for labor in opposition to attacks against New Jersey’s working families and we are proud to endorse her for Congress today.”
Watson Coleman expressed her gratitude to Leach and the membership of CWA Local 1039:
“I appreciate the support of the hard-working men and women of CWA Local 1039,” said the assemblywoman. “Working families throughout the state deserve a fair wage and the ability to go to work every day without being vilified and attacked for partisan gain. I’ve fought for those basic values my entire life and, if elected to Congress, I will work hard to carry forward Congressman Holt’s legacy and continue producing results in Washington on behalf of the 12th Congressional District as well.”
