The International Union of Operating Engineers Local 825 today endorsed Andre Sayegh in the race for mayor of Paterson.
“Paterson needs a fresh approach to tackle its varied problems,” said Greg Lalevee, Business Manager of Local 825. “We believe that Council President Sayegh has the right mix of energy, ideas and accomplishments to improve the local economy.”
Sayegh last week landed the support of the Carpenters.
Sayegh earned a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Columbia University. In addition to his position on the city council, Sayegh serves as adjunct professor at William Paterson University, and Passaic County Community college.
He served as Executive Director of the Paterson Alliance for two years, from 2007 through 2009, and has worked with Congressional and State Senate offices.
Local 825 is headquartered in Springfield and represents more than 6,500 operating engineers throughout New Jersey and five counties of lower New York: Rockland, Orange, Ulster, Sullivan and Delaware. Its members operate heavy-equipment – such as cranes, bulldozers, graders, pavers, pile drivers backhoes and loaders – to execute large construction tasks and earthworks operations.
