Paterson Board of Education President Christopher Irving, Vice President Chrystal Cleaves, and BOE Commissioners Manny Martinez, Kenneth L. Simmons and Cory L. Teague endorsed Maritza Davila for Council at Large.
“Maritza’s extraordinary commitment to Paterson is only shown through her years of dedicated service to her family and her community. The community she serves is the diversity that is Paterson” said Paterson Board of Education President Christopher Irving.
Maritza Davila began her efforts to foster a better environment for Paterson as an educator and college administrator for the past 21 years. Her community involvement began with volunteering at Community Action for Social Affairs (CASA Inc.,) a food pantry. Maritza now serves as Chairwoman of Friends of Passaic County Parks, a nonprofit that provides cultural programming and raises funds to improve Passaic County parks. She is Vice President of the Administrators Union for Passaic County College, where she is the Assistant Director for Admissions, a member of NJEA; a member of Paterson’s Team Hope; and serves as commissioner on the Paterson Planning Board.
“Maritza is a woman of worth that values the quality of life of ALL Patersonians. She embodies the idea of a unified Paterson.” said Paterson Board of Education Vice President Chrystal Cleaves.
Maritza expressed her gratitude for the endorsements by President Irving, Vice President Cleaves, and commissioners Martinez, Simmons and Teague.
“I am very happy and humbled today to be endorsed by 5 people who have been among the strongest advocates for our children and their education.” Davila said. With the help of the voters on May 13, I look forward with them to continue to improve opportunities for youth in Paterson to succeed and thrive.”
