In case you’ve been wondering what Jimmy McMillan’s been up to since his 2013 Mayoral campaign, don’t worry — he’s evidently been busy.
Mr. McMillan, the famously mustachioed representative for “The Rent is Too Damn High” party, released a new single yesterday, Brokelyn reported.
In his soulful new track, “Jimmy Mack,” the political activist and self-proclaimed karate expert sings of familiar woes — churning stomachs of hungry children, working three jobs, rent that is too damn high, and “no justice, no peace.”
“I’m fighting for a roof over your head, food on your table, money in your pocket, yeahhhhh,” he sings.
We’re wondering which lyrics of this soon-to-be hit are the most mesmerizing. It could be when Mr. McMillan lists the rent for every different kind of NYC apartment, or maybe it’s when the background singer wonders, “Jimmy, oh Jimmy Mack. When are you coming back back back?”. It’s a close call.
The guy clearly has musical aspirations, making the real question whether or not he’ll give up politics for a career as a rock star.
He has the potential, but please, Jimmy Mack, don’t do it. Cheaper rent and a little spice in the election debates are both things we could surely use.
