PATERSON – Running in the race for mayor of this storied northern factory city and immigrant spillzone, Council President Andre Sayegh voted moments ago at School 25.
His wife Farhanna pulled up in a SUV with the couple’s child, Sophia, catching the candidate on the fly in the parking lot for the family march into the polling place.
“I have no idea who I’m voting for,” Mrs. Sayegh cracked.
Moments later, the family voted, Sophia accompanying her candidate father into the booth.
“I believe in all the work we’ve done in the past four years,” said Sayegh, who’s running in a field of eight mayoral candidates, including incumbent Mayor Jeffrey Jones and former Mayor Jose “Joey” Torres, both of whom beat the ward 6 councilman in 2010.
“We have collaborated with different groups and we have the support of the congressman [Bill Pascrell], chairman [John Currie] and the community, who have the same sense of urgency that I have,” Sayegh said.
