Without the restoration of Prospect Park, it is unlikely that Park Slope—the cradle of the new Brooklyn that it is—would ever have become the BoBo destination that it is today. For that, we have Brooklyn resident Ms. Thomas, who spearheaded Prospect Park’s renewal in the late 1970s, to thank. Ms. Thomas spent her career championing the public private partnerships that enabled those restorations. This year, Ms. Thomas came out of retirement to head up advocacy group New Yorkers for Parks, where we expect she will continue to work her magic on a much broader scale.
