TRENTON – As the supporters of state Assemblywoman Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-15) file into the Lafayette Yards hotel in downtown Trenton after the polls closed on Primary Day, the whispered word among those gathered is coming down to one Union County city.
“It’s going to come down to Plainfield,” said one Democratic operative on the condition of anonymity. “This race is as tight as they thought.”
One Democratic Latina operative said that she believes a high voter tide in Plainfield augurs well for Watson Coleman.
“If the numbers in Plainfield come out high , that’s our numbers,” she said on condition of anonymity. “The same for South Bound Brook. Those our our numbers, and those numbers will be for Bonnie.”
