DeMarco named head of Bayonne transition team

Bayonne Mayor-elect Jimmy Davis named Joe DeMarco, Davis’ campaign manager in his upset victory over incumbent Bayonne Mayor Mark Smith in the June 10 mayoral runoff election, as chair of his transition team.

“Joe has the requisite experience, leadership skills, and knowledge to lead this effort,” said Davis in a written statement issued Monday . “He has my full faith and confidence, and he will jump-start the transition process, preparing us to govern on Day 1.”

“It’s an honor to be chosen to lead Mayor-elect Davis’ transition team,” said Joe DeMarco, who currently serves as the business administrator in West New York. “Our number one priority is to spend the next two weeks transitioning Bayonne’s government, so that a Davis administration can be prepared to govern on Day 1.”

DeMarco, a Jersey City native, currently serves as the business administrator in West New York, a post he has held for the past three years. He received his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law, a B.A. from Boston College, and he is also a graduate of Saint Peter’s Prep in Jersey City.

DeMarco played a key role in West New York Mayor Felix Roque’s upset victory in the 2011 West New York mayoral contest, where DeMarco previously served as counsel. DeMarco also served one term on the council in Bernardsville from 2009 to 2012.
