Jackson defeats Perez in Trenton runoff election

Eric Jackson, the former director of public works who just missed the runoff election when he ran for mayor in 2010, has prevailed in the 2014 mayoral runoff.

Jackson beat retired soldier Paul Perez.

When he is sworn into office, Jackson will take over a troubled city which saw its last mayor, Tony Mack, fall to federal corruption charges.

At around 9 p.m. and with three districts missing, Jackson led Perez by over 1,000 votes.
