Prez 2016: Booker talks up Clinton’s ‘high marks’ from national-level Republicans

TRENTON – Cory Booker isn’t ready to issue a 2016 presidential endorsement, but based on what he’s heard in Washington, D.C., says he disagrees with the argument that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton could be a nationally polarizing figure.

“I think she’s been an extraordinary leader in many ways,” Booker told PolitickerNJ, reflecting on the Democrats’ presidential frontrunner and former first lady. “She gets great marks from leaders on the other side of the aisle.”

According to GOP senators with whom Booker’s spoken, “she’s not polarizing.”

“I’m talking to people who have actually worked with her,” the senator added.

Booker says he’s aware of Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley as a presidential contender, and Clinton, but offered no other names of Democrats in the mix at this time who have talked to him about their ambitions.
