Unions take care of their own, too.
At a convention in Atlantic City yesterday, The New Jersey State Building and Construction Trades Council took a page from Bruce Springsteen’s song book when its unanimously backed Senate President Steve Sweeney as its choice for New Jersey’s next governor.
As general organizer of the International Association of Ironworkers, Sweeney is a member of that council. He’s also one of several state lawmakers rumoured to be a potential 2016 gubernatorial candidate.
“The men and women of the New Jersey Building and Construction Trades Council have spoken and they want Steve Sweeney to consider running for Governor. Steve Sweeney’s strong leadership and inspired commitment to our union trades and to improving the lives of all New Jerseyans make him the ideal person to lead our State,” said council president William Mullen.
