Torres raises $220K at Paterson fundraiser

Paterson Mayor Jose “Joey” Torres raised more than $220,000 to pay for his recent inaugural festivities at a fundraiser event in Paterson Wednesday night, according to a Democratic source who was present at the party.

Approximately 1,100 people attended Torres’ event at the Brownstone restaurant. Attendees included New Jersey Democratic State Committee Chairman John Currie, Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop, State Senator Nellie Pou (D-35), State Assemblyman Benjie Wimberly (D-35), Hudson County Freeholder Junior Maldonado, Fulop operative Jason Solowsky and Amiri Baraka, Jr., chief of staff to Newark Mayor Ras Baraka.

Torres was sworn in earlier this month for his second turn as Paterson’s mayor.
