Once seen as a summertime sure-bet, the nomination of Kevin O’Dowd for attorney general now has insiders wondering.
While not implicated in the Bridgegate imbroglio and likely to not have to sweat Senate Judiciary examinations where guilt or innocence is at stake, O’Dowd nonetheless could be bothered by senators who would want answers as to why Gov. Chris Christie’s chief-of-staff didn’t know about the lane closure crisis while it was in process.
He may not want to put himself through that kind of discomfort at this point.
Sources told PolitickerNJ that O’Dowd may seek a private sector landing pad, but no one is sure. He may just as well stick it out.
In any event, it does not appear solidified the way it did briefly earlier this summer.
