While welcoming the Assembly Transportation Committee to Montclair State University after everyone had settled in and publicly gloried in the surroundings of the North Jersey campus, Dr. Susan Cole quickly detoured to shred state government’s higher education policies.
The president of Montclair, Cole told the transportation committee that New Jersey government’s approach to its higher education franchise is “severely limiting the state’s ability to prosper.”
Cole said New Jersey continues to forego important opportunities, “causing us to lose 30,000 students every year billions of dollars in education expenditure.”
“I hope you do much better in transportation policy than in the area of higher education,” she added. “The good news is it won’t be hard to do much better.”
