Gov. Chris Christie’s pollster polled the 3rd Congressional District and has Republican Tom MacArthur in the lead over Democrat Aimee Belgard, according to a memo by Adam Geller’s National Research, Inc.
MacArthur leads Belgard 44-37%, according to a telephone survey of 400 likely voters in NJ’s 3rd Congressional district between September 30 and October 2, the memo says.
The margin of error is +/-4.9% at the 95% confidence interval.
The pollster conducted 30% of the surveys with “cell phone only” respondents. By registration, the survey sample is 35% Republican, 36% Democrat and 29% Independent, unaffiliated or “other.”
The basic dynamics of the Republican-leaning district favor MacArthur.
President Barack Obama’s job approval stands at 43%. His disapproval is 53%. In the generic ballot, the Republican leads 41%-38%.
