Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, Essex County Joe DiVincenzo and Essex County Democratic Chairman LeRoy Jones, Jr. sat down at the famed Tops Diner in East Newark, just across the Clay Street Bridge from Newark. 

Baraka and DiVincenzo sparred last month over Baraka’s offer to Newark Councilman-at-Large Carlos Gonzalez to become a Newark municipal court judge. The potential move would have shifted the Newark City Council more in Baraka’s favor. However, Gonzalez, after reportedly meeting with members of DiVincenzo’s North Ward Democratic organization, declined Baraka’s offer.
