As rumors continue to circulate regarding his statewide political ambitions, former Germany ambassador Phil Murphy and his wife, Tammy, announced today plans to launch New Start New Jersey, a policy and advocacy organization “devoted to growing New Jersey’s middle class and improving the state’s economy and quality of life.”
A broad-based Board of Advisors will join the couple in running the organization.
The official event launch will take place in Newark on November 10th, the week following the 2014 general election. It will include the presentation of new survey data on the state of New Jersey’s middle class and a panel discussion regarding opportunities for growing and protecting the middle class, according to a release.
Phil Murphy is one of a handful of New Jersey Democrats being touted as potential 2017 gubernatorial candidates. He headlined a Middlesex County Democratic fundraiser Wednesday night that netted the organization $125,000.
