House Democrats this morning chose New Jersey’s U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone (D-NJ) to be the ranking member of a powerful energy committee in the next Congress, according to reports.
In a 100-90 vote, Pallone came out the top choice ahead of challenger Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-CA) to sit on the Energy and Commerce committee. His win is seen as a blow to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who had come out in strong and vocal support of Eschoo for the post, according to The Hill.
Pallone will replace retiring Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA) on the committee.
