The late Senator Clifford Case (R-NJ) received 22 delegate votes for the presidential nomination in 1968 against Richard Nixon on the first ballot.

Case, who would go on to lose to challenger Jeff Bell in the 1978 Republican Primary – came in sixth behind winner Nixon, Nelson Rockefeller, Ronald Reagan, James Rhodes and George Romney.
