Christmas is creeping closer, and while most of us are shopping and breaking out the spiked cider and ugly sweaters, some entrepreneurs are crowdfunding last minute holiday projects and products.
Of the number of holiday-themed campaigns currently on Kickstarter, a number of them are a little out there. From beard photo Christmas cards to a size XL Christmas cookie, here are some of the most bizarre Christmas-y campaigns seeking your support.
Basically, this guy is looking to create a line of Christmas cards that will “immortalize the ‘stache” he shaved off to honor a mustached friend who left town (because that makes total sense). Considering the fact that the campaign ends on December 22, if funded (unlikely), it doesn’t look like the cards will arrive on time. Sorry.
This group of buds that love to get together and jam with their bassoons wants to bring holiday joy to your ears. They’re raising funds to record their very own Christmas album AND make T-shirts.
This Kickstarter creator wants to turn the classic Christmas tune into a reality. He’s hoping to “bring the song to life” and send gifts for each day to families all over the world. Considering the fact that most of what’s counted down in the song would be difficult to send UPS (lords a leaping, maids a milking, swans a swimming, etc.), we have our concerns about this campaign.
The creator of this campaign doesn’t just want any cookies this holiday season; he wants a giant three-foot Christmas tree cookie. The bizarre thing here is that apparently this cookie is expected to cost $5,000 to make.
It’s not all that clear what this one is about, but Christmas cards is our best guess. What’s pretty bizarre, though, is its description:
I come from a big family. We love to spend time together. We drink and eat, drink some more. We’re a bunch of Merry Mother F&^%$#rs, just like everyone else. But I come from a long line of folks, each with a wicked sense of humor. It’s a gene I carry, I can’t help it. What better time than Christmas to share that Twisted humor with the world? I love you, I wanna share. And I got a whole bunch of Twisted Sons a Bi&^%s to help me out. Some of the best Indy talent is showcased here folks, as well as some new to comics. We want everyone to be a part of our festivities.
This Kickstarter is raising money to host a mock trial to determine who really wrote ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas. They’ve done this once before, and it’s apparently a really “heart-felt” and “homegrown” event, according to the campaign page.
Because who doesn’t want an image of Santa with a plumber’s crack hanging on their house? This decoration (with Halloween, Easter, and Fourth of July counterparts) was created by a guy referred to as “The Master” of decorating by his neighbors. Yes, these “MEGA” banners are plastic, and yes, they’re attached with Bungee cords.
