Hoping for a Christmas card this year from New Jersey’s Gov. Chris Christie? If you’re a Republican in the Hawkeye State — no, not Garden State — you may be in luck.
For the second year in a row, Christie is wishing Iowa’s Republican residents a happy holiday season via mail-delivered Christmas cards, the Des Moines Register reports. The incumbent governor is one of a handful of 2016 presidential contenders that are engaging the state’s conservative voters ahead of the campaign season with holiday well-wishings — Republican voters also found cards from Mitt Romney, Ted Cruz, Chris Christie, Rand Paul and Marco Rubio in their mailboxes.
Like last year, Christie inscribed his card with a Bible verse: “You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace. Isaiah 55:12.” It also includes a photo of his wife, Mary Pat, and their four kids, Bridget, Patrick, Sarah and Andrew, ages 11 to 21.
“Wishing you peace and happiness this holiday season and throughout the coming year,” the card reads.
Christie is Catholic.
