Thanksgiving week lends itself well to casual dressing, and not just because nobody wants to squeeze into a tight-fitting dress after downing pumpkin pie.
Last week’s autumnal weather, copious amounts of family time and lack of red-carpet events also might have contributed to even the most stylish among us donning pants and letting their hair fall into undone, loose waves. For proof of that, see Rachel Zoe and Hannah Bronfman, who both made chilled-out, casual ’70s style their own over the weekend.
Native New Yorker Ms. Bronfman celebrated Small Business Saturday in NYC, wearing high-waisted suede pants and a beige top. The suede, plus the turtleneck, plus the boho middle-part all bring Mary Tyler Moore’s clean ’70s career girl aesthetic to mind.
On the other end of the country, Ms. Zoe attended the opening of The Elder Statesman in West Hollywood. She paid homage to the ’70s in the only way a true California girl knows how: by dressing like a hippie. Her long fur vest, paired with wide-legged flares and circular shades, bring Cali transplant Joni Mitchell to mind.
Both of these ladies do the ’70s aesthetic justice, but we have to call this one in favor of Ms. Zoe, who is nailing the effortless-but-chic vibe for which we all strive. Still, Ms. Bronfman gets major bonus points for pulling off those high-waisted suede skinny pants.
This brings up LA’s total, but NYC is still beating them 8-4. For previous LA vs. NYC showdowns:
