The Newark Fire Officers Union, IAFF Local 1860 AFL-CIO, CLC teamed up with Operation Warm, a nonprofit dedicated to providing new winter coats to children, so that they may attend school with pride on the coldest of winter days.

One hundred and fifty children from Newark were selected to receive a brand-new winter coat on behalf of the Newark Fire Officers. In coordination with Newark City Council President Mildred Crump, the children were pre-sized so they would receive a properly fitting coat.

The coat distribution took place at Chancellor Ave. School on November 24. Council President Crump along with Fire Director James Stewart and Fire Chief John Centanni were in attendance.

“We are delighted to provide Newark children with more than a coat,” said Anthony J. Tarantino, President of the Newark Fire Officers Union. “Each coat is American made and union made.”

The Newark Fire Officers Union represents the captains, battalion chiefs and deputy chiefs in the Newark Fire Department. For more information, go to www.operationwarm.org and www.iaff.org.
