Dominic Novelli will be the county administrator in the new James Tedesco administration, and Michele Dilorgi will be the Bergen County Executive-elect’s chief of staff, sources tell PolitickerNJ.
A Republican, Novelli served in Bergen County government for 24 years and notably served as chief of staff for then-County Eexecutive Pat Schuber.
He also served as director of purchasing for former County Executive Dennis McNerney.
Dilorgi is now clerk to the Board of Chosen Freeholders and served as district director for former U.S. Rep. Steve Rothman (D-9).
Tedesco, a Democrat, said his appointment of Novelli was about picking the best person for the job.
“Dr. Dominic Novelli has a long history of public service and cares deeply about the future of Bergen County. Dr. Novelli is eminently qualified to run the day-to-day operations of the county. I look forward to working with him to deliver the change Bergen County residents have demanded,” said County Executive Elect Tedesco.
A life-long resident of Bergen County and graduate of Rutgers University, Dilorgi resides in Haworth with her husband and three children.
“Michele DiIorgi’s knowledge and experience will be invaluable to me and the people of Bergen County. She will bring a unique perspective to the County Executive’s Office and will help ensure my administration hits the ground running. Additionally, her expertise in constituent services will be essential in creating a more responsive county government, something I promised during my campaign” said Tedesco.
Tedesco, a Democrat, who defeated incumbent County Executive Kathleen Donovan will take office on January 1st in a private swearing-in with family and hold a public ceremony on January 4th at 2 p.m. at Bergen Community College.
