Sources say there’s another potential candidate emergent in Paterson’s 1st Ward: School Board Commissioner Manny Martinez.

An administrator with the Community Charter School of Paterson and former grammar school teacher who co-runs the family funeral home, the 38-year old Martinez is looking very hard at the soon-to-be-vacated seat, sources say.

Councilman Anthony Davis pleaded guilty today to taking bribes and is stepping aside.

Martinez doesn’t want to make any comments about a run until the city sets in place a clear process for succession, a source told PolitickerNJ.

As it stands, School Board Commissioner Corey Teague is officially in the race, and restaurant owner Mike Jackson is poised to run.
