More than 600 party stalwarts assembled at the Rockleigh Country Club on Thursday night for the annual Bergen Democrats’ Victory Gala as two prominent potential Democratic 2017 gubernatorial candidates made appearances, according to sources.
Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop and former U.S. Ambassador to Germany Phil Murphy sat side by side as Bergen County Democratic Committee Chairman Lou Stellato presided along with New Jersey Democratic State Committee Chairman John Currie.
The entire Bergen Democratic state Legislature delegation was also present, led by state Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg (D-37) and state Assembly Speaker Vinny Prieto (D-32).
The Bergen Democrat who scored the greatest victory for the party in the past year was not present: Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco was on the scene at the Edgewater apartment complex fire, meeting with Gov. Chris Christie and helping provide county resources to relief efforts.
A moment of silence was held to reflect on the events in Edgewater.
