ATLANTIC CITY – A dismal, driving rain ushered in those committed members of the Republican Party who ended up in a jangled dead end on the ocean of old age down here, splattered with neon, accompanied by bells, roulette wheels, on the way in occasionally belted by a frigid wind off the Atlantic Ocean.
The twangs of U2’s “Where the Streets have no Name” blistered through speakers as Assembly Minority Leader Jon Bramnick (R-21) soft-shoed across the carpet in the main ballroom of the Borgata to announce the start of the convention he organized.
“Six debates anywhere anyplace on his turf, we’ll go anywhere,” said Bramnick. “Myself and the speaker.”
“So the public knows there’s an important election,” he added.
