Look, I’m not pretending I’m the first person to discover Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared, a series of horrifying nightmarish absolutely beautiful puppet videos by Becky Sloan and Joseph Pelling. The series, which takes a subversively Sesame Street aesthetic to concepts like Time, Creativity and Love have been viewed millions of times on YouTube. They have their own Wikipedia page. They aren’t unknown, as far as Internet phenomenons.
And yet…there are many of you out there who have no idea what DHMIS is, and every time I introduce a new friend to this mind-melting art, their reactions are so extreme and childlike that I can’t just hide behind a “it’s been done, why bother?” facade anymore. If you haven’t seen Touch Me, I’m Scared, it is my DUTY to show them to you. I feel very strongly about this.
Okay, now go watch. Then come back and tell me how you are feeling.
