In case you’re single and looking for a last minute Valentine’s Day date, here’s a few ways to meet some (hopefully) like minded New Yorkers, without looking too desperate.

The Strand Bookstore

Strand Bookstore and have teamed up to offer singles the chance to swap books and phone numbers at this Boozy Book Swap event. Bring along one of your favorite reads in the hope someone on the same page picks it up from the pile. It could be the start of your love story only romance novels could dream of, or at least an OKCupid date with someone half sane.

Strand Bookstore 828 Broadway and 12th, 7 – 8 p.m. February 11, $20

New York Transit Museum

Made some flirty eye contact with that hot guy on the subway this morning? Well maybe you could meet them at the New York Transit Museum Missed Connections Event, inspired by the infamous Craigslist Missed Connections section where hopeless romantics declare their love (or lust) for that certain someone they spied on the train. And if you don’t find a date to “explore the 1936 decommissioned subway station after hours” with, then there is beer provided by Brooklyn Brewery, chocolate and photo booths galore.

New York Transit Museum, Downtown Brooklyn, 6.30 – 8.30 p.m., February 12, $15

Too intimidated to ask someone out on romantic, candle lit dinner date? Why not try the old “let’s grab a coffee” routine and head to Starbucks. Enjoy a special pairings menu for only $5 for your #starbucksdate. We are unclear as to what a Starbucks pairing menu consists of exactly, but if you can’t find anyone to go with, ask that hottie two people behind you in the line to share a coffee and cake.

At participating Starbucks, 2 p.m. to close, February 13, $5

Lomography Gallery Store

Got some old undeveloped film just lying around? Why not swap it (and maybe your number) with another budding photography enthusiast or (most likely) Williamsburg resident. Drop into Lomography to swap your film with another and see what the two of you can create in this double exposure collaboration.

Lomography Gallery Store, 41 West 8th Street, 1 – 4 p.m. February 14, $10.

Anti-Valentine’s Day Singles Party

Maybe you’re not-so-into the whole Valentine’s Day agenda, that’s ok. Instead, why not attend the Anti-Valentine’s Day Singles Party. And who cares if you don’t find anyone? You’ll help raise money to help dogs and cats find new homes.

Hudson Terrace, 621 West 46th Street, 6 – 10 p.m., February 14, $20,
