U.S. Rep. Tom MacArthur (R-3) this morning announced his subcommittee assignments for the 114th Congress.
“I’m pleased to announce that on the House Armed Services Committee, I’ll be serving on the Subcommittee on Tactical Air and Land Forces and the Subcommittee on Military Personnel,” MacArthur said. “These subcommittees are critically important to my goal of protecting Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst and serving the men and women of our Armed Forces in New Jersey’s Third Congressional District.
“The Subcommittee on Tactical Air and Land has oversight over Army and Air Force activities,” he added. “Due to sequestration, the Department of Defense has threatened to retire the KC-10 refueling tanker housed at Fort Dix and McGuire Air Force Base. This seat will help me fight to prevent sequestration and preserve the KC-10 presence at the Joint Base. Additionally, the Subcommittee on Military Personnel, which oversees benefits and Tricare for our servicemembers, will help as I aim to support both military families and veterans in South Jersey.”
On the Natural Resources Committee, MacArthur will serve on the Subcommittee on Water, Power, and Oceans, and the Subcommittee on Federal Lands.
“These seats will provide a number of opportunities to work with my colleagues as I work to support victims of Superstorm Sandy, streamline regulations for our fishing industries and communities, search for a responsible transition plan for the Oyster Creek Nuclear Power facility, and protect our state’s incredible resources like Barnegat Bay and the New Jersey Pinelands,” MacArthur said.
