SCOTCH PLAINS – Republican William “Bo” Vastine, a YMCA finance manager from Scotch Plains who is gearing up for a run for the Republican nomination in the state 22nd Legislative District, commented on the burgeoning brouhaha centered on state Assemblywoman Linda Stender (D-22).

“At this point there is still some speculation surrounding Ms. Stender’s shore home and details related to Habitat for Humanity. I think that we need to hear from Ms. Stender about her knowledge and involvement in this matter, otherwise, we are left to assume the worst,” said Vastine in a written statement sent to PolitickerNJ. “If it turns out that these reports are true, I do believe that she should resign from both the State Assembly and her position with Union County. The people’s trust has been compromised and her behavior should not be rewarded in any way.”

Stender was hired earlier this month to be deputy director and project manager at the Union County Improvement Authority with an annual salary of $90,000. Vastine on Stender situation: “She should resign” if shore home reports true
