NEWARK – If politics makes strange bedfellows, it took a hotel opening in downtown Newark for rivals to get a room.

Newark Mayor Ras Baraka and Essex County Executive Joe DiVincenzo sat down together and talked during the official grand opening of the Hotel Indigo, a new 108-room boutique hotel in downtown Newark, on Thursday afternoon.

Whether their tête-à-tête is the beginning of a real rapprochement remains to be seen.
