A fire last night gutted the rooms and caved in the roof of the Franklin Township building housing the legislative offices of Assemblyman Joe Danielsen (D-17).
“My office was two days old office and we had just had the opening office party on Thursday,” Danielsen told PolitickerNJ.
The local fire department is now investigating the cause of the fire. No one was injured but it was heartbreak for an assemblyman who was just sworn into office late last year.
“I’m not going to let this skip one beat,” said Danielsen, himelf a firefighter whose company responded to the blaze. “I told my staff be prepared to camp out in the library.”
The fire call went out at 7 p.m.
The fire emanated from somewhere in the building, Danielsen said, but the fire department as of this morning had not yet officially determined the cause of the fire. “We had just moved upstairs and installed a fresh new carpet,” the assemblyman said regretfully. “I had commissioned a local artist to paint two paintings.”
